Road Trip!
What do you do for entertainment on long road trips? Play family word games? Plug in DVDs for the kids? Listen to local radio stations fade in and out of range?
Maybe I've mentioned it before, but I really like spending time perusing the Arrowhead Library System's Rockcat website.... so...
The last time we went on a long road trip, I hopped on the site and searched for “radio programs” and “Audio Books”. Just like that, I could see seven libraries' worth of books on CD and make my picks.
Among other things, I requested several Bill Cosby stand-up comedy recordings, a collection of Dragnet shows, and the seventh Harry Potter book on CD. If we had laptops for the kids, I would have considered borrowing some computer games, too. (Want your kids to hone their typing skills on vacation? How about the SpongeBob Squarepants typing program? Hedberg Library has it!)
Anyway...

On the trek south, I kept bopping around the AM dial. Jenn (in a separate car) talked with her grandmother and our son.
