Hummingbird Update
The first hummingbird was spotted at our house May 1st. A beautiful, shiny green creature with a bright ruby throat. It perched on the feeder and drank a good long time, then returned over and over.
Another hummer, sans ruby throat (the mate?), showed up a few days later. It, too, perched and enjoyed a relaxed drink.
The third bird to arrive had been here in years past. This one doesn't land when it drinks. I've nicknamed him "The Hovercraft". He also sports a beautiful ruby throat.
When the two rubies started fighting over my one feeder, my children gave me another feeder for Mother's Day. Now everyone is happy. (Especially me.)
This is the first year we've seen the hummingbirds resting in our bushes and trees. I hope this means they're considering home construction in our yard.
What's the hummingbird situation at your house?

I've only seen 1 so far this "spring" and that was Monday. I quickly changed the food in the feeder just in case, since it had been out for 2 weeks. So far no other sightings. Fingers crossed...hoping.
