Rock County Cancer Coalition
I'd like you to meet the Rock County Cancer Coalition.
(In the interest of full disclosure, I will tell you that I am a member of the RCCC board of directors.)
Now, I realize you've “met” plenty of non-profit organizations, but let me tell you what specifically drew me to these folks.
They help a person.
I need to explain that...
I've lost several family members to cancer. So, I'll donate to just about any cause that raises funds to fight cancer. Pledge a walker? You got it. Crochet something for an auction? How soon do you need it?
I'll do it gladly and with a happy heart.
But, let's imagine that the sweetheart-of-a-waitress at my favorite restaurant has cancer. She had planned to go back to college this month, but she'd felt too sick to work all summer. Tuition was going to be tight to begin with, and now she has the medical bills. On top of that she lost her hair to the chemo treatments, and she's embarassed to work or even go to class without hair. At this point, a wig is a luxury she just can't afford, but it seems to be the key to putting her life back on track.
Do I run out and write a check to cancer research? No. I want to buy her a wig!
You would, wouldn't you?
That's the kind of thing the Rock County Cancer Coalition does.
They find out what a person needs, and they make it happen.
So, you see, the Rock County Cancer Coalition is the group that helps a person.
The only pre-requisites for receiving aid from the RCCC is that a person has cancer and lives in Rock County. That's it.
I know that my donation will directly impact the life of someone in Rock County fighting cancer.
The RCCC has been working for a couple years raising money, and this year they started taking on clients. As the client list grows, the need for donations multiplies.
As of September 7th, 2011, they have assisted 18 residents of Rock County and distributed over $9,000.00.
If you feel moved to help a person in your community, get to know the Rock County Cancer Coalition, make a donation, and participate in their fund-raising efforts.
Someone may be waiting for your help.
