GM Janesville work schedule

By Stan Milam ( Contact )   July 10, 2008

My sources tell me the work schedule for the Janesville General Motors plant has been finalized for the rest of the year. GM and UAW oficials will not confirm the dates. Here are the down times, according to my sources:

The previously announced layoffs in July with work resuming the week of July 28

The weeks of: Aug. 18 Aug. 25 Sept. 1 Sept. 29

All of November and all of December.

GM is required to give the state of Wisconsin a 60-day notice in advance of a major layoff. In light of the notice requirement, is it a coincidence the plant is scheduled to be down the last two months of the year?

I stand corrected. My post was intended to indicted the four weeks in July previosly announced still hold. You are correct - it's back to work July 28. I have corrected the original post.

Unless the return date in July has changed since the employees were told, they have two week layoff in July after the 2 week shut down-so they go back on July 28th, the last week of July, not the entire month of July. At this time, we have not heard anything different,
