Reality check

By Stan Milam ( Contact )   June 4, 2009

There are serious issues being discussed regarding the future of the "new" General Motors, especially as they relate to the GM Janesville assembly plant, United Auto Workers Local 95 and GM Janesville salaried retirees. Will GM designate the idle Janesville assembly plant to make a new small car? Will GM hourly and salaried retirees maintain a viable retirement plan?
These are important questions that need reasonable answers.
What is not needed is more hysterical partisan rhetoric accusing President Obama of orchestrating the GM bankruptcy so he can reward his "union buddies" for their support during the campaign.
Let's get real. There are serious challenges ahead, and we need serious offers for solutions.
