Are you kidding me - 6 percent?

By ( Contact )   June 20, 2010

Is this a joke?
Can any public official say with a straight face that property taxes must increase by 6 percent?
And, in the case of the Janesville School Board, since when does approval of a referendum mean an ongoing and corresponding property tax increase. And how can a property tax increase be justified to correct the mistakes of past boards in terms of underfunding the retirement account?
Shouldn't we be talking about, at the very least, a freeze in property taxes if not reducing them?

I know there is no such thing as a money tree but we cannot afford to short change our children and that's the bottom line. Teachers earn every penny that they're paid and most give way more than they receive. Have you volunteered in the classroom oldvet? I have .

This six percent is about a referendum that was crammed down our throats by a powerful lobby even though many of us saw this coming before the first shovel of dirt was turned.

packrat...Spending a week in a classroom would only help convince me that teachers, like all of us, MUST live within our means. And just in case you do not know. There is no such thing as a money tree.

The school board should be faced with the words of Donald Trump - "you're fired"!

Any one who is against doing whatever it takes to support our Teachers 100% has never been in a classroom and that's what this 6% is all about. Go spend a week volunteering in a classroom it might change your point of view
