Ouch! That Hurts

By Tim Beggs ( Contact )   December 7, 2011

I cut the top of my head open while mowing the lawn on a late August day. I knew it required medical attention. This wasn't the first time I've knocked open my noggin'. I received quick, professional care. I needed a few stitches, a shot in the arm and a follow up visit to my doctor. I thought I was lucky. That was until the dust settled and the final bill came in the mail. After my insurance chipped in thier tiny portion, I'm looking at a $500.00 bill. What? 500 bucks for four stitches, a tetanus shot and a follow-up visit? What are my bi-weekly medical insurance contributions covering? Not much, not much at all. I guess if you want to avoid getting ripped off as a consumer..........don't get hurt, or sick! Where's Clark Howard when you need him?
