Worst song of the 80s
I'm a music fan. I like the old stuff, some of the new, and everything in between. I'm not a huge fan of some of the junk that came out in the 80s. (who is?)
A recent Rolling Stone reader poll has listed the worst songs of the 80's and "We Built This City" by Starship comes in at number one by a huge margin.
"The Final Countdown" by Europe came in second and Chris de Burgh placed third with the ballad "Lady in Red." Wham came in at number four with "Wake Me Up Before You Go Go" and Men Without Hats rounds out the the top five with "The Safety Dance."
In the sixth spot is Austrian rock star Falco with "Rock Me Amadeus." Bobby McFerrin's "Don't Worry Be Happy" is seventh. "Mickey" by Toni Basil, "Puttin' On the Ritz" by Taco, and "Never Gonna Give You Up" by Rick Astley complete the top ten.
In the 80s, all of these songs reached the top ten on the Billboard Hot 100, with many reaching number one.
Are there songs from that era that you think should be on the list?

I love 80's music! It's just about what you grew up with.

Anything of the 80's is preferable to the (C)rap put out these days...

I agree, pntt! Besides being whiny, "I Wanna Know What Love Is" is too slow. What good is a slow song that's TOO slow to even slow dance to?
.
Even though Unchained Melody just missed the '80s when the movie "Ghost" came out and gave it new life, I'm gonna say it's close enough to put on this list.
It's also too slow to dance to. And ever since someone pointed out that none of it rhymes, it's bothered me.

My vote is for "I Want To Know What Love Is". What a whiny song! I can't believe it's the same band that did "Jukebox Hero" and "Dirty White Boy"
