Discover Wisconsin

By Tim Beggs ( Contact )   January 10, 2012

Do you remember when the Department of Tourism used "Discover Wisconsin" as their slogan? You may have a bumper sticker around the house with that phrase stuck somewhere. Instead of traveling out of state for vacation, I'm thinking about re-discovering Wisconsin this year. There are a million reasons to travel within the state and enjoy whatever it is you like to do? I thought about it while we drove home from Green Bay last weekend. I've traveled throughout a good portion of Wisconsin over the years, but there's so much more to see and do. Where do we begin? How about some of your favorite places to Discover Wisconsin?

I like to discover Wisconsin from the inside of my husbands Alumacraft canoe, or on foot with our 3 dogs...

See a play at American Players Theater in Spring Green, Tim. It's a beautiful setting and a great way to spend a summer evening. Stop in Arena, WI on the way and get some fresh cheese curds. Taliesen is also nearby if you want to make a long day of it.

Excellent topic of conversation. I regularly say how we're missing out on so much that's right here in Wisconsin. If you've ever watched Discover Wisconsin and you're anything like me, you feel ashamed of yourself because there are so many things to do and see, yet somehow one never gets around to doing them. Cave of the Mounds, House on the Rock, Fairs and festivals, Lakes, Restaurants, and the list goes on and on. Monroe has a brewery, Baumgartner's, and Cheese Days. Hiking at Magnolia Bluff in Evansville. Whitewater Lake. Madison. Heck, when's the last time you were at the Tallman House, or the Milton House? Tim, you'll have to live a long time to get to it all. Cheers!
