Will you help?

By Tim Bremel ( Contact )   August 18, 2008

I know times have gotten tougher. Prices on a lot of items are up. Many of us have had to make adjustments.

But Wisconsin has traditionally been known as a very charitable state, out-donating many states larger than ours, when it comes to our generosity in helping those in need.

This year, The American Heart Association is again working with WCLO to present the American Heart Walks to benefit those with heart disease.

Certainly every one of us knows the pain heart disease and stroke can inflict on families, friends and co-workers of those with heart disease.

Yet, even though we've made it easier than ever to be a part of the event, (you don't even have to attend, just donate online) we have seen only two contributions on our website page.

We have invaluable sponsors in the Wildwood Theatres, Milwaukee Zoo and Kealy's Kafe in donating certificates to the first ten who sign up. But with just six days to go ... we see only two team members online.

I also have word from the AHA that valuable team support from local businesses, particularly in Beloit, is having a negative impact on that event.

So I'm not only asking, I'm practically begging for your support of charitable efforts that have a positive impact on those around us. Please use the link on the home page of WCLO-dot-com to pledge your support. Better yet, form a team of family and friends and support your local event.

When the chips are down, our listeners are always there -- and even in some of the most challenging times some of us have ever faced, I have faith in you.

Thanks for your support.
