News and improved!
Sometimes bad news can be the door opening to new opportunity. In early December, when we were notified of some major "downgrades" to CNN Radio programming, it was bad news for us. Immediately, the question of best serving the population of Southern Wisconsin with complete and dependable news and information at the national level was jeopardized. And so, we began to explore our options.
The details on switching networks that occur behind the scenes are complicated and, to most of you, likely uninteresting. So to make a long story short - after three weeks of research and negotiation, we moved to CBS Radio. The switch officially occurred on January 11th. CBS offers substantially more content on an hourly basis than CNN did. Its services to stations to assist us in knowing about breaking news is far superior. And we get to tap into some of the resources of CBS television with features from Katie Couric and other celebrities.
On the weekends, we will begin our Saturday programming with the CBS Weekend Roundup from 5-6am, replacing some weaker feature programming.
The CBS Schedule also allows us to work in more local newscasts on Saturdays - to give you updates at 10:04am, 11:04am, 12:30pm and 1:30pm in addition to our local programs in the morning each Saturday.
Its been a hectic few weeks. The end result is, however, even better than I had hoped. But what I think is secondary. My hope is that you, our listeners, also sense the improvements and know that your trust in WCLO to provide the area's best news and information is well placed. As always, I welcome your input. After all, WCLO is YOUR station.

I like and support the change to CBS news. I always thought CNN had too much of a liberal slant for my taste but according to (a now 4 year old report), CBS is very liberal as well. I'll watch for that with CBS but I haven't noticed it yet so perhaps they've changed since this report was published.

As for WCLO as a whole, I have nothing I would offer for improvements. The WCLO personalities and news staff are awesome and both the local and network programming is excellent!
Tim, you are fortunate to have great people working for you!
Thanks WCLO for the great job you do!
