The City of Beloit takes the first step in working to revitalize two neighborhoods with a history of trouble.
City Manager Lori Curtis Luther hosted a community meeting Tuesday evening to gather feedback from the public on how to revitalize the neighborhood.
While many of the several dozen in attendance seemed eager to offer solutions such as providing a community center for young men and addressing transportation issues, several people felt that underlying racial issues need to be addressed before the community can heal.
The City of Beloit plans to hold a similar meeting in the Hackett neighborhood in the near future.
