The Beloit Fire Department plans to do a little holiday decorating this week.  Chief Brad Liggett says it's time for the traditional holiday fire wreath.  Liggett says the decades old practice of placing the wreath on fire department headquarters is intended to raise awareness for fire risks the holidays pose.  He says the number of fires tend to increase with all the extra lighting, candles, cooking, and other seasonal practices.  On the bright side, Liggett says technology has resulted in cooler lighting, but the chords can still be a problem.  He says they should never be covered to allow any heat build-up to dissipate.  He says the wreath starts out with nothing but green lights, but for each fire a red bulb will be substituted.  He says a blue light is used when there's a fatality. The wreath will remain from Thanksgiving through New Years.
