Water rates to go up in Evansville

The water bill for Evansville residents will likely be going up soon.  The Wisconsin Public Service Commission issued a rate order for the Evansville Water and Light Utility this past Tuesday.  The increase will recover the costs of nine years of inflation and pay for new automated water meters.  Increases will also cover the cost of installing water mains this year.  The commission calculates the average residential rate will increase 41-percent.  Water rates last increased in March of 2007, when users saw a 36-percent hike.
