Dates for this year’s Sonic Boom are Oct. 1 and 2, according to a news release from WJJO, the Madison radio station that organizes the metal concert.

This is the third year of Sonic Boom and the first to feature two days of music, the release states. More than 20 bands will perform at the Southern Wisconsin Regional Airport in Janesville.

“Last year, only our second year for Sonic Boom, we had more than 15,000 people show up,” Randy Hawke, operations manager for WJJO, said in the news release. “We knew we had to expand for this year, and opening up a second day and adding even more bands was the best way to keep the momentum going.”

WJJO also announced that it’s teaming up with local charities, including ECHO and the Salvation Army, to help raise funds and supplies for people in the Janesville area.

Hotels can be booked now, the radio station said, and lockers for the two days of Sonic Boom can be reserved at jjosonicboom.com.
