The Beloit Police and Fire Commission may soon have enough members to formally approve Interim Police Chief David Zibolski for the position permanently.

Three members from the five member board resigned last week after the City Council forced the PFC to reconsider it’s original decision to hire Interim Rockford Police Chief Patrick Hoey for the job.

Because at least three members are needed to vote the PFC has had to hold off on formally approving Zibolski for the job at the salary of $135,000 that was included in the City’s Council’s formal offer of employment.

The Beloit City Council is scheduled to have a special meeting Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. to appoint Dennis Murphy to fill on of the open spots on the PFC.

Murphy was recommended to the Council by the City’s Appointment Review Committee which held a special meeting on Monday.
