An Edgerton limousine company is shut down by a federal agency following investigation into a crash in Illinois which left one person dead and several other injured.

The U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration says that Lyons Limousine was in violation of multiple safety regulations including: repeatedly using an underage driver to operate a commercial motor vehicle, failing to conduct required pre-employment background checks on it’s drivers, failing to maintain any records of maintenance, and failing to monitor it’s drivers hours of service to prevent fatigued driving.

A limousine owned by the company, and operated by a 20-year-old Janesville man crashed on the Interstate in Elgin, Illinois on it’s way to O’Hare International Airport on March 25th.

53-year-old Terri Schmidt of Monona was killed in the crash and five others were injured
