Beloit man sentenced on federal gun crime

A Beloit man will spend more than four years in federal prison on a gun crime.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office in Madison says that 37-year-old Llewellyn Sams pleaded guilty to being a felon in possession of a firearm in January.

U.S. District Judge William Conley sentenced Sams Monday to 54 months in prison.

Authorities says that in March and April of last year Sams sold a gun to an undercover Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco, and Firearms agent on three occasions, and also sold heroin on one of the occasions.

Sams’ prison term will be served concurrent to the two years he has remaining on a state prison sentence he’s currently serving for aggravated battery.
