Janesville police say a near accident in a convenience store parking lot ends in the arrest of a city man on a charge of 4th Offense Operating While Intoxicated. An officer says 51-year-old Gavin B. McCarten nearly backed into an unmarked police car a little after 3:00 o’clock Wednesday afternoon in the Kwik Trip parking lot on East Memorial Drive. Police say McCarten smelled of intoxicants, had an open bottle of beer, and admitted to drinking. They also say he didn’t have a license. He was taken to the Rock County Jail to await a court appearance.
