A 28-year-old Janesville man, originally charged with attempted homicide, pleads to an amended charge Friday morning before Rock County Judge Michael Haakenson.  The defense attorney offered a  not-guilty plea for Mario Lopez on a charge of First Degree Intentional Homicide.  Lopez had been charged along with his 26-year-old brother in the November stabbing of 47-year-old Mark Marquez who died in February. Michael Lopez pleaded guilty last week to a reduced charge of harboring/aiding a fugitive. Officials have said the Lopez bothers are the sons of a woman with whom Marquez had a long-term relationship, and the victim considered them his sons. Mario Lopez will be back in court July 5th.
