After years of lying low, the Nintendo owned franchise is taking America by storm. Pokémon Go uses your mobile phone’s GPS system and clock to detect where and when you are in the game and where Pokémon will “appear” around you. As you move around town, different types of Pokémon will appear. The objective of the game is to travel around the real world to catch Pokémon in the game.

The Janesville Police Department offers the following safety tips when playing Pokémon Go:
• Don’t ever enter private property to capture a Pokémon character without the owner’s permission
• Never enter abandoned buildings or structures
• Stay out of parks and other public areas after hours
• Keep your heads up and look both ways before crossing the street
• Never play Pokémon Go while operating a vehicle
• Play with a group to ensure your safety
• Stay safe and catch ’em all!
