(Gazette photo) Arguably Janesville’s biggest one-day charitable event is expanding in a big way this year. New Life Assembly of God lead pastor Jason Karampatsos says the food giveaway at Freedom Fest this year will stretch from 500 to 5000. Karampatsos attributes the decision in part to coupling Freedom Fest’s compassion component with the Convoy of Hope. The free rides, music, and compassion component of Freedom Fest all begins at 10:00 a.m. Saturday and finishes off with fireworks after dusk. Some 30,000 people are expected on the New Life Grounds on North Wright Road.
