Edgerton man sentenced to two years in federal prison for tax crime

An Edgerton businessman is sentenced to two years in federal prison for failure to pay taxes withheld from his employee’s paychecks.

61-year-old Gary Auerswald of Edgerton was also sentenced to three years of supervised release and ordered to pay nearly $600,000 in restitution.

According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, while Auerswald was the owner of Full Spectrum Building Components he withheld payroll taxes from his employees’ paychecks but failed to deposit the funds with the IRS on a quarterly basis.

Auerswald is accused of using the money to pay for business and personal expenses.
