Janesville Fire Department calls for service escalate

The Janesville Fire Department is on track to have another record breaking year for the number of service calls. Deputy Fire Chief Bill Ruchti says calls for service so far this year have already topped 5000.  Ruchti remembers when he started 27-years ago the call volume was only about half that for the entire year, and only a handful of personnel have been added over that time.  Most of the increase in calls are for medical service, and many of them appear to be for drug abuse issues and an aging population.  Calls for service this year are running about 4% ahead of last year.
