The City of Janesville’s Economic Development Department hopes to tackle the current rental shortage by offering tax incentives to developers of multifamily housing.

Economic Development Director Gale Price says currently tax incremental financing can only be used for housing downtown.

Price says Monday night the City Council will consider expanding that to other parts of the city.

The City Council meets at the Central Fire Station at 6:00 p.m. Monday.
