The final pieces of the Monterey Dam in Janesville are expected to be removed this week and City Manger Mark Freitag says water clarity, and fishing quality are returning. Freitag says recreational opportunities are also improving. Freitag says the next steps for the reclamation project begin this fall along the river both north and south of the dam. Restoration work begins next spring on the drained lagoon area residents have begun calling the mud flats.
