A Janesville dog is shot in the leg after charging at a Rock County Sheriff’s Deputy.

The Rock County Sheriff’s Office says a deputy was attempting to serve papers at a residence on the 1100 block of Johnson Street just after 7:30 (Monday) night.

The deputy approached an open gate, at which point a full grown German shepherd ran toward him.

The deputy pulled his service weapon and shot the dog in one of it’s legs.

The dog was taken to a local vet for treatment.
