The Boys & Girls Club of Janesville is distancing itself from the embattled YMCA of Northern Rock County.
According to a news release, while the two non-profits share a roofline, they are two separate entities with separate boards of directors, finances, and tax numbers.
The Boys & Girls Club owns their portion of the building at 200 West Court Street outright and do not rent space from the Y.
The YMCA of Northern Rock County has recently come under scrutiny by current and former members as well as several former board members who are demanding transparency in the non-profit’s financial and governance records.
In December of last year the United Way Blackhawk Region barred the Y from access it’s funding after denying it’s last two grant applications due to inconsistencies and discrepancies as well as potentially misrepresented information.
