Beloit man faces gun charges

A 35-year-old Beloit man faces several gun charges following an altercation with police January 15th.

According to the criminal complaint Beloit Police responded to the report of a man walking out into traffic in the area of St. Lawrence and Cleveland Street just after 5:00 p.m. last Tuesday.

The responding officer says Brandon R. Hendrix appeared intoxicated, was acting suspiciously and kept putting his hands in his pockets after being continually being told not to.

The officer says he attempted to handcuff Hendrix for his own safety and he resisted until a second officer arrived who was able to help subdue him.

Police found a handgun in Hendrix’s backpack

According to the criminal complaint, at the time of Hendrix’s arrest he was out on bail for two unrelated cases and has a federal felony conviction which bars him from possessing firearms.

Hendrix is charged with resisting an officer, carrying a concealed weapon, possession of a firearm by a felon, possession of a firearm while intoxicated, and two counts of bail jumping.
