A new report says the Ho-Chunk Casino project in Beloit may not happen as quickly as once thought.

The Beloit Daily News obtained a document from the state’s Division of Gaming which says the Bureau of Indian Affairs and the Department of the Interior “are at best, one to two years away from a decision.”

The report states it could be as long as four years before they decide on the casino.

The Ho Chunk Nation had planned to break ground in 2020 and open in 2021, with approval.

The city of Beloit and the Ho Chunk Nation remain committed to the project, but they may be left waiting for the thumbs up from the state before they can move forward.
