A former Janesville woman is sentenced to four years in prison plus five years of supervision for hitting and running over another woman with her SUV in 2017.

30-year-old Arielle Landing pleaded guilty to aggravated batter last October and had charges of first-degree reckless injury by use of a dangerous weapon, hit-and-run involving great bodily harm and driving while revoked dismissed but read into court.

Landing wiped tears from her eyes as she apologized to the court Wednesday.

Assistant District Attorney Kate Buker said Landing and the victim were fighting over a man they had a relationship with outside of Impact Confections in Janesville, and Landing used her SUV to intentionally hit and run over the victim and drove away.

Buker and the state argued for five years in prison plus the supervision, and Landing’s attorney Jason Sanders made the case for one year behind bars before supervision.

The maximum penalty for the crime was 10 years of prison and five years of probation and up to a $50,000 fine.
