Final man accused in drive-by shooting death of little boy is convicted

The family of a five-year-old Beloit boy continues to get some closure as the last of four men charged in his January 2016 shooting death is convicted.

Rock County Prosecutor Mason Braunshweig presented a plea deal Friday morning for 21-year-old Hugo Martinez which reduces his original charge of party to first degree intentional homicide to party to second degree reckless homicide.

Martinez’s co-defendant Sergio Ortiz plead guilty to first degree reckless homicide in July of last year and was sentenced in November to 40 years in prison.

His other two co-defendants Eric Salazar-Mota and Isaac Torres were both convicted of second degree reckless homicide and are awaiting sentencing.

Austin Ramos Junior was shot to death while riding in the backseat of his father’s vehicle on January 22nd of 2016.
