The third time is the charm for the School District of Milton’s referendum, which passes with an unofficial 53 percent voting yes.

The $59.9 million decision will allow for renovations at the Milton schools, including a new pool.

The newest member of the Milton School Board is happy with the referendum results. Rick Mullen is the top vote-getter in that race with 36 percent of the votes. He joins incumbent Michael Pierce on the school board.

The Beloit School Board has two new faces. Incumbent John Wong takes first with an unofficial 21 percent of the vote. Challenger Megan Miller takes second and John Winklemann comes in third, each within 50 votes of each other, unofficially.

Incumbent Board President Pam Charles finishes fourth with just 13 fewer votes than Winklemann, keeping her board seat but only for a one-year term.

Meanwhile, the Town of Beloit’s board of supervisors has a new chair. Tammy Maegli knocks off incumbent Diane Greenlee with over 61 percent of the vote. Maegli opposes the town’s potential push for incorporation.

In Clinton, the School District didn’t have the success they were looking for, with their $41.9 million referendum failing. An unofficial 59 percent of voters said no.

The four incumbents for the Janesville City Council all kept their seats. Challenger Jan Chesmore took less than 15 percent of the vote.

Incumbent Milton Mayor Anissa Welch held of her challengers too, bringing in nearly 50 percent of the ballots.
