Dog dies in Janesville house fire

A residential fire Thursday night in Janesville kills a dog and destroys a house.

According to a news release, firefighters responded just before 9:00 p.m. to a residence on the 1000 block of North Henke Road. The residence was fully ablaze with heavy flames on the first floor and extending the exterior to the attic.

Residents informed firefighters when they arrived that no one was in the house. No injuries were reported, but a dog perished in the fire.

Damage estimate is at a total loss.

Cause of the fire is still under investigation.
