A group of Janesville residents are upset about the volume of music that comes from Hammy’s Roadside Bar on the city’s south side.

Eight citizens spoke during the public comment portion of Monday’s city council meeting to complain about the music because the bar’s liquor license was up for approval.

Donald Steinke from Hammy’s Roadside Bar says the majority of their neighbors don’t have a problem with their music. They canvassed the 54 homes in the complaining neighborhood and said 45 of the households told them they were fine with the music.

Council member Paul Williams went out to the homes of concerned residents to hear the music volume for himself.

The Janesville City Council voted Monday night to reapprove their liquor license for 2019-2020, but the alcohol license advisory committee will review their outdoor music permit at its next meeting in July.
