Golden Corral adding Janesville location off of interstate

Some Janesville residents have been asking for a Golden Corral for years. By the end of 2019, their wish will be granted.

City Economic Development Director Gale Price confirmed Golden Corral purchased the former Quaker Stake and Lube building near Highway 14 and I-39/90.

“They hope to start here shortly before the end of the summer,” Price said.

Price says Golden Corral is looking at a prototype for a smaller store.

“They had looked at [Janesville] for a 15,000 square foot store, and they are doing now the smaller prototypes of 7,000-8,000 square feet that they think will penetrate markets like this and be a more reasonable size,” Price said.

Property records list the former Quaker Stake building at 3111 Wellington Court show at 7,632 square feet.

Price didn’t have an exact timeline for the opening of the Golden Corral but indicated it could be ready to open by the end of the year.
