Almost 10 months after the homicide investigation began, a Janesville woman is facing charges in connection with the death of 31-year-old Jamie R. Stephens of Rockford.

The Winnebago Sheriff’s Office says they worked with the Janesville Police Department to locate and arrest 27-year-old Amber Brewer on Wednesday in the 2300 block of Dartmouth Drive.

Court records show she was taken into custody on charges of aggravated kidnapping, aggravated unlawful restraint and concealment of a homicidal death.

According to a news release, Stephens’ body was found off of a roadway in Winnebago County back in December of 2018. 27-year-old Nickles Parks and 19-year-old Joshua Whittie were arrested and charged with first degree murder in January and April, respectively.

The news release says the Winnebago County State’s Attorney officially authorized the charges on Tuesday, and the arrest was made Thursday.

She’s being held at the Rock County Jail until she can be extradited to Illinois.
