A local farmer is disappointed the state senate voted along party lines to reject Brad Pfaff to head the Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection. Wisconsin Corn Growers President Doug Rebout of Janesville says Pfaff was well qualified, having grown up on a farm and later working for the USDA, the Barack Obama Administration, and even heading the state FSA. Rebout says farmers are worried about continuity in state government He calls it the “perfect storm” for agriculture right now, because of weather worries, commodity prices, and the trade war. Rebout says agriculture should be the most bi-partisan topic facing the legislature.
