The Janesville man accused of a shooting on Thanksgiving morning faces a less serious charge than originally expected.
26-year-old Gage Holmes was arrested last week on suspicion of attempted first-degree intentional homicide, but the Rock County District Attorney’s office filed a second-degree reckless injury charge against him in court Tuesday.
Court Commissioner Larry Barton set a $10,000 cash bond in the case, noting a previous missed court appearance by Holmes for a drug charge in 2012.
Holmes is accused of shooting his mother’s estranged husband in the abdomen last Thursday, causing non-life threatening injuries.
