Milwaukee Street bridge reopens to traffic

Traffic is officially flowing on the Milwaukee Street bridge in Janesville again.

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation and the City of Janesville announced that two lanes of traffic on the bridge opened up Wednesday morning nearly six months after the project was supposed to be complete.

The south side of the bridge including the pedestrian walkway is still under construction and crews will continue work as the river levels drop.

When the water levels recede, the contractor may close one or possibly both lanes to complete the remaining work.
