Local law enforcement plans stepped up patrols

The Beloit Police Department will be participating in the Rock County Impaired Driving Enforcement Task Force this month. City Communications Director Sarah Millard says the goal is to do more than make arrests. Millard says ultimately public education is a major aspect of the effort with the goal of encouraging drivers to make smart decisions rather than drive impaired. Millard says four days are set aside this month for additional police patrols. She says the Beloit Police Department will have zero tolerance for driving under the influence, open intoxicants, seatbelt violations, and improper use of child safety restraints.
