A 36-year-old Mcconnell, Illinois man apologizes to his family, and the family of his victim, during his sentencing Tuesday in Rock County Court on a charge of Homicide by Use of a Motor Vehicle with a Prohibited Alcohol Concentration. Cori L. Reed told them he was truly sorry his decisions caused so much pain and loss for so many. Judge Barbara McCrory says one of the concerning aspects of the case was Reed spent an hour-and-a-half on his cell phone immediately after the town of Beloit crash in September of 2018, but never to call 911 to get help for his seriously injured friend.  McCrory says another bad choice had been to accept the role of designated driver and continue drinking.  McCrory sentenced Reed to six-years in prison and five-years extended supervision.
