All K-12 public and private schools in the state of Wisconsin will be required to close as of Wednesday, March 18.

Governor Tony Evers directed the Wisconsin Department of Health Services to mandate the statewide closure in an effort to contain the spread of COVID-19.

DHS anticipates the reopening date to be April 6, but it’s subject to change as more information about the coronavirus outbreak becomes available.

Under the mandate, schools will be allowed to close earlier than March 18, but the state is giving them time to plan their next steps for students and staff.

Health officials announced 11 new positive cases of COVID-19 in Wisconsin Friday afternoon, leaving the state with 19 total cases.
