Both the School District of Janesville and the School District of Beloit will be closing their schools on Monday, March 16.

Governor Tony Evers directed the Wisconsin Department of Health Services to mandate statewide K-12 school closures effective Wednesday, March 18, but every district was given the freedom to close earlier if they chose.

The School District of Janesville says it will provide its families with more details on food service and learning opportunities as it finalizes its plans. The district’s statement said its closure will last through at least Friday, April 3.

Beloit interim co-superintendent Sue Green said her district is working out plans for parents to be able to pick up meals for students, including both breakfast and lunch. The district’s main office, the Kolak Education Center, will remain open.

Beloit plans to keep its schools closed through the anticipated opening date of April 6, as announced by Governor Evers.
