The City of Janesville may get some COVID-19 relief sooner than later.

City Manager Mark Freitag says the state plans to dole out some $200 million of Federal CARES Act funds to municipalities.

Freitag says the city has kept close track of expenses since mid March, in the hopes of 75 % federal reimbursement, and 12.5% state reimbursement.

Freitag says word was received last week that the state may reimburse Janesville $1,031,000.

Officials say as of Wednesday, the city has incurred slightly less than $1,080,000 in COVID-19 related expenses.
