The City of Beloit and the Town of Beloit reach an intergovernmental agreement to share Dan Pease as fire chief.

The city council and the town board met separately in closed session Monday night to approve the agreement, which has the township paying for 25 percent of Pease’s salary.

The two fire departments will remain separate entities, but they will also share fire investigation services.

Pease takes over the Town of Beloit fire department after the retirement of Fire Chief and Town Administrator Gene Wright.

All Rock County fire departments are currently part of an automatic vehicle location dispatching program that sends the nearest fire trucks and ambulances to any emergency, regardless of which jurisdiction it belongs to.

The Town of Beloit had also discussed potentially sharing services with the Janesville Fire Department and Fire Chief Ernie Rhodes.
