Beloit school board names finalists for superintendent position

The Beloit School Board narrows down its list of superintendent candidates to three finalists.

In a closed session discussion Tuesday night, the board decided on Dana Arreola, Lorenzo Russell and current interim superintendent Dan Keyser.

Arreola is the Executive Director of Leadership Development for the Aldine Independent School District in Houston, Texas. She previously served as a school support officer and principal in other Houston-area school districts.

Russell is an area superintendent and network leader at the Cleveland Metropolitan School District in Ohio. Before that, he spent nine years in Chicago Public Schools as a deputy chief of schools and principal.

The School District of Beloit is opening up the interview process to for the community to participate in public forums next Monday.

The board set aside a four-hour time slot from 4:30 to 8:30 p.m. for parents, families and staff to ask questions of the candidates.

The school board will then hold its final interviews with the candidates next Thursday, and it plans to make a final selection in early February.
