Cocktails to-go coming to Rock County thanks to new state law

Downtown Janesville businesses plan to take advantage of the new state law allowing cocktails to-go.

Lark owner Richard Neeno said he’s thrilled the state put the rules in place to sell his upscale drinks for customers to bring home.

He wishes the legislature would have acted sooner to put the rules in place at the start of the pandemic, but he thinks it’s better late than never.

The new state law requires the drinks to be packaged with a tamper-evident seal, and Neeno is still working with his staff and the city to determine their options.

More than half of the states in the country had made similar changes to their laws before Governor Evers signed the bill late last week.

It officially went into effect on Sunday.
