A local non-profit is working to ensure equitable access and distribution of the COVID-19 vaccine. In an effort to remove barriers to vaccination, the United Way Blackhawk Region is collaborating with community partners to coordinate county-wide transportation to vaccine appointments. Individuals in need may simply dial 211 during weekday hours from 8:00 to 4:30 and be connected with a live person for scheduling. United Way President and CEO Mary Fanning-Penny says the option may be of particular interest to the elderly who are no longer able or comfortable with driving, have mobility issues, or are on a tight budget.
