The Janesville City Council hopes to narrow down a plan this week to pay for road repairs.

The council is holding a special meeting Wednesday with the intention of deciding on a plan for at least the 2022 budget.

Council president Doug Marklein told Your Talk Show on WCLO that a transportation utility won’t be in the cards for next year.

He anticipates some kind of blended solution that could involve an increase to the wheel tax and other assessments that share the costs among residents and businesses.

The council has held public forums in recent weeks to solicit community input and feedback for next year and beyond.
